A cohort can offer perspective, challenge, and shared learning. Individual work allows for a different level of precision.

The focus can remain on one leader, one role, one organization, and one set of consequences. The pace can change as the situation changes. Practice can be built around a real conversation that must happen next week, a political relationship that has become difficult, or a leadership pattern that has followed the leader across several roles.

Individual work also creates room for a level of candor that may be difficult elsewhere.

Senior leaders often carry information they cannot share widely. They may be uncertain about a colleague, a board, a major organizational decision, or their own readiness for a larger role. They may need to examine how they are contributing to a problem while still being responsible for solving it. They may need someone who can hold the complexity of the situation without reducing it to a simple coaching question.
